Hi there,
My great-great-grandfather is Solomon Jackson Hopkins. I have a copy of his certified marriage license and marriage certificate. It states that he married Mary A. Collins on 09 Jan 1879. Mary was born 14 Oct 1862 and died 29 Nov 1937. She was 16 years old at the time they wed. I also have two pages out of a bible, probably Solomon’s. These are the Family Register page, Marriage, Deaths and Children’s Name pages.
10 Jan 1909, my great grandfather, Henry W. Hopkins, married Emily Upchurch, and on the copy of their certified marriage license and certificate it states Henry’s parent are Solomon J. Hopkins and Mary A. Collins.
My questions are:
Who is Mary A. Applewhite and where did she come from?
Do you know if Mary A. Applewhite and Mary A. Collins are the same person?
Do you know if she was married before she married Solomon?
I also have old Hopkins family pictures that I’m fixing to scan. In fact I have the Solomon J Hopkins Family photo you have above. I was somewhat surprised to see it. My Mother didn’t know there were anyother copies of it. If you are interested in any of the Hopkins photo’s let me know. When I’m finished scanning them, I will upload them to kodak and can email them to you, if you are interested.
As far as removing the black paper from your photo’s, I read using a Q-tip and water, a metal pancake turner, or a sharp knife to scrap back and forth until it gently removed the paper. I’ll be trying the water and Q-tip first on mine.
Thanks,
Kathy
